Howest DAH24 event

On Friday, April 19th, I participated in a 24-hour hackathon called "Blockchain Infused with AI," hosted by DAH24. The event began at 16:00 with a welcome from the host, followed by some initial setup to kick off the hackathon.

April 19

Our adventure began as we gathered in the lobby of the Mind and Makers Space (MAM) campus in Bruges for the highly anticipated Web3 hackathon. After a brief orientation and a tour of the venue, we started the event with refreshing drinks and catching up with old friends. Energized by some Belgian fries, we dove into brainstorming sessions within our teams, exploring the fusion of blockchain and AI technologies to generate creative and innovative ideas. After a briefing about the objectives of the hackathon, my team (Safeguard Security) and I, began brainstorming to decide what we were going to make. After some discussions, we settled on developing a facial recognition software designed to alert parents about registered sex offenders in their vicinity. We also had to combine our project with the blockchain, that's why we also incorporated custom NFTs. These were used to link and track the sex offenders. With a solid plan in place, we eagerly awaited the next day to begin the real hacking.

With our project in mind, we started the development phase. Every team member had there own task, I mainly focused on making the NFT's and publishing them on OpenSea. While other team members were coding the facial recognition software. On Saturday at 19:00, we had the award ceremony where our team secured second place, narrowly missing out on first. Participating in this hackathon was an amazing experience. It offered a unique platform to compete with talented teams, challenging us to think creatively and sharpen our technical skills.
